A small village comes under the terrorizing atrocity of Zamindar, Dhurjan Singh (Amrish Puri) who along with his bandits loots the people. A bold villager, Ranjeet decides to fight against Dhurjan Singh but gets killed when he goes to lodge a police complaint. While dying he asks his wife not to tell his younger brother, Amar as to who killed him, as Amar (Anil Kapoor) will lose his mind in vengeance. The police do apprehend Dhurjan and he is convicted and jailed. When he returns from prison, he finds that his son has been killed by Amar and he sets off for revenge. Murder and political intrigue kick off a chain reaction of revenge that spirals out of control as both men fight to reign supreme.
